I've got a 350g coming in about four weeks and am starting to get all my stuff together for it. I'm going back and forth between natural looking river sand, more brown versus white pool filter sand, and using 3M's excellent black ColorQuartz. So, I'm looking for some photos of big tanks with black sand to get an idea how this will look.

And and all help and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Photos are appreciated more. And thanks for this great forum.:)

Let me just add that I had black ColorQuartz in a 55g and it was awesome. I'm just not sure how good it will look on such a large scale.

My other option is a more natural looking river type sand. Either way, it'll be similar to my current setup (the 190 in my sig) with lots of real wood and rocks.

Here's my old 55, if you haven't seen the 3M ColorQuartz in black...

if you already have a 55 with the black it cant be that hard to picture what it would look like 50x bigger...

I just didn't know what it would look like on such a larger scale. I'm going back and forth between the black sand and river sand.

I think it will look great...as Bushfish says just like your tank but waaaay bigger :) I'm guessing the big guapotes that are in your 190 are going in the new tank? How it will look will depend on the fish, tanks I've seen with parachromis and black sand look excellent.

The fishes in the 190g are all moving to the new tank. I may add a grammodes or two as well. I had some of these fishes in the 55 with the black sand almost a year ago. The colors did look good. I'm just having trouble deciding which way to go (black or brown).:)

I am just starting a 330. It will definielty have black. The backgournd will also be black. I have seen a large tank set up this way. It really gives it depth and makes the plants and fish colors stand out. That's my vote, although brown natural gravel looks mighty nice also.

I would say go with the black. Natural can be so nice, but I have found that I get quickly sick of it and wish I had added a different color. With black, I look at my tank and I am always like...man...it's such a nice tank :)

I would definitely use black. It looks better, IMO. I wish I could get some for my 75.
