I keep hatchetfish in a 10 gallon and I can say that it is a 10 or at most a 15g.

Also, a trick with aquascaping is to use plants with smaller leaves to give the illusion of a larger tank.

EDIT: Another thing, the foreground plant used in the second tank is glossostigma elatinoides, the same plant that can be seen at the very front of the third tank, and you can see that they are very similar in size in relation to the tank. The second pic was just taken slightly closer than the third pic.
