I really thought I was never going to be able to upgrade from a 150gal because tanks here do not come up cheap (with stand or in the footprint I was looking for) all that often and I wasn't going to pay a grand for a used tank.

Ended up with some money left over from our tax return and decided I would see if I could find a cheap tank and someone liked the idea because I finally found it! We have this 8 1/2 foot wall space we needed to utilize, so we wanted a 8ft long tank. Someone from the local club posted up an 8x2x2 240gal tank with stand/lid/lights/hob filters all for just over $400. I must say I was extremely excited when I contacted him and he still had it. We currently have an fx5 for it but looking into another filter or two to add to it. Got some work we are going to do on it - we changed the handles out on it tonight. :D:D:D

No idea what the stock for this tank is going to be yet, we have thrown around the idea of datnoids, pikes, catfish, aro, cichla, jags but we really have no clue yet. We are going to do some research and see where we end up. Leaning towards keeping fish from the same country.

Once we start working on it I plan to document the process of getting it set-up and getting the fish.

i had to look twice to see if i read that price right. looks like a glass tank. i bet that sucker was heavy lol. i just bought a tank of the exact same size but acrylic and that thing cost me 1800 lol. not including the stand lol. I would put some north american natives in it. a bullhead could live out his life in there. maybe put in a few panfish and a perch and a florida gar. it would look amazing. i have seen them full of african cichlids too. in a tank like that you could put about a hundred in there so you would have tons of color and movement. whatever way you go, it is gonna be a sweet tank!

great deal! maybe a dovi pair? think thats what i would do. my 180 to small for them or i would have one.

Look closer, thats a reflection from the TV.

Truely an amazing deal!

beat me to it. but the reflection in the second pic does look like a fish. get some bichirs :)
