Well after reading up on these interesting creatures for a bit I had to have one of my own. I remembered Petsmart had some SMALL Senegals (They had them titled "Dinosaur Bichir") in stock so I went yesterday and got myself one for my Bday. It is in my 20g long right now with 7 Corys which I know won't work long term obviously but I want to grow it out in here for now. I'd say it's about 2.5" right now, give or take a little. They are really cool fish and it was only $6, which I didn't think was to bad. I may go get it a couple friends to grow up with. The girl said it was the first one she has ever sold and they had at least 4 more in stock. I only have one photo for now and I'm lucky I got this one, literally the second I snapped the picture the lights went out for the night. It seems to really enjoy night time, I have a small night led on one side of the tank and I watched it cruise all around as I went to bed last night.
I know it's not the best photo, I will try to get another tomorrow.
Full tank photo, it seems to like it.
From my research my tank should parameters should be ok for this little fella but I'll post anyway. Ammonia 0.0, Nitrates <40ppm, Nitrites 0ppm, PH 7.5, Temp 79*.
I feed the tank sinking Shrimp Pellets and Hikari sinking wafers "For bottom feeders", along with a few flakes for the few guppies who call this tank home and a little bit of Mysis shrimp. Should this be adequate for now?
