re-did my tank and dismantled saltwater. tired of wasting so much time and effort. freshwater is easy just hook up the python and go do whatever it is i got planned lol.

anyways i have the suncat. i really wanted a florida gar. everyone is saying they can potentially outgrow a 125 because of the width...yet i see/hear most floridas are 16/18 inches.

another fish i was interested in was the clown knife. captive size is also 18 inches i read...although it gets like 3 feet in the wild apparently.

then i was thinking of doing a pair of O's (not necessarily a breeding pair but just two) with my cat and a small musk turtle.

i can stock heavy as long as they all get along. i got a bunch of anacharis and i do water changes all the time as it costs me no time or money.

can you offer opinions and suggestions?

Not 100% sure about the florida gar, but a clown knife will eventually outgrow a 125g. Since the tank is only 18" wide (if it's a standard 125g), the clown knife has the capability to grow just as wide as or wider than the width. Also, 18" is a bit of a small estimate of how large a clown knife could grow. Although it most likely won't reach sizes that it would in the wild, 2'+ would definitely be possible in the right conditions.

yea it seems like all the cool stuff is just slightly out of my reach which is really annoying. it would be better if i had a small tank so i know where i stood. this was a gift though which i appreciate and also the house is more then 100 years old so i dont want to play around with that.

do you have any suggestions for me? keep in mind i have the catfish already

I usually recommend polypterus, not sure how much you know about them but they're great if you like oddball fish. There are quite a few different species to choose from and they're all pretty interesting. If you want some kind of knifefish, there are a few species that stay smaller than clowns. A black ghost knifefish, for example, will grow to about 18" at the most, more than likely a few inches shorter. There is also a huge variety of mid-sized cichlids to choose from, firemouths and green terrors are a few that stay fairly small and that should be fine with the sun cat.
