I just bought a couple 5-6" reds from a lfs. I saw them and felt I needed to get them. I was in the market for a couple tank mates for the adult that I have.

But they look like they have had a rough life before the lfs got them. The guy said they aren't eating live fish. I was thinking it could be because they had them in a 10 gallon or 20 gallon display tank.

I was wondering if adding some stress coat or something like that would make their scales and fins heal up a little quicker. They look a little skinnu, but other than that they have great color and are already pretty active.

For now I have my adult 8-9"+ and them in a 55 with a divider. I know this is not an ideal tank, but soon enough they will be in a 125 when I get a 300 wide for my Oscars, Firemouths and Cats.

Thanks guys, I will try to get some pictures up tomorrow. For now I just want them to get settled in.

(I usually don't feed live fish anyways, bloodworms and pellets and shrimp are the usual food for my piranha....just thought I would let everybody know in case it is a sign of something.)

pics will be tomorrow...I got a couple pieces of shrimp in the tank now. If they don't eat it by morning. I will go pick up some other types of food and see how they do with it. As soon as the lights were off they piranhas have all been next to the divider. Hopefully everything will be peaceful. It should be right?

Nevermind, here is a crappy pic....BETTER pics will come tomorrow ;)

I dont think you really need the divider. I would take the p's out, do a large volume water change, move arangements around in your tank, and then add all the p's back with no divider.

dividers are no bueno, the sooner you get rid of that, the better.

Has that 8-9+ piranha been in that tank its whole life? That is a pretty big red belly for that tank size.

He was in a 125 originally. With 3 others...I had 2 breeding pairs. but the females died one day after a big spawn. Then the other male died in the move. So I got some fish for the 125, gave him the 55 and here they are.

I actually took the divider out today. I just wanted to acclimate them for a night to see how they were..they are so bright red.

I will definitely get some better pictures up here tonight. I have a big patio window so the pictures aren't coming out the best. So stay tuned ;)
