Hey, this is my first post and I'm not sure how you guys feel about asking questions as first posts on this board, and I'm not even sure if you can answer it. I've looked around on google and a few other boards and still have yet to find a clear difference between grass and chain pickerel, but I'm interested in keeping the smaller of the two in my 20L tank and then eventually giving it a 75 gallon. The pickerel I have access to have a dark back, a line down the side of their face through their eyes, and a very light yellow almost white belly, and are about 5-8 inches long. So my question aside from full grown size, what is the key difference between grass and chain pickerel? Oh and my previous experience of keeping freshwater fish non-tropical is LM bass, channel catfish, bullhead catfish, bluegills. As for non fish: plenty of snakes, turtles, and amphibians.
