Pickerel scared of the dark

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
something prolly spooked him one night... had it happen before. might try a nightlight for awhile, or giving him some floating plants ect he can feel secure in. If the light isn't on a timer.. its worth the 5$ investment from the hardware store.

A moonlight might help.

Does he stay freaked out after the lights are out or just freak out for a bit when the lights actually turn off? It could be that the sudden darkness freaks him. Not necessarily the cheapest solution, but you could get fading lights and automate them.

Alright thanks. He hurt his nose real bad when I tried turning out the light. He slammed right into the glass.

He keeps freaking out. I have to turn them back on. I've had him for a year and this has never happened.

Marineland makes pretty good led's that switch to blue or blue and white. Def. worth getting a set and trying the blue at night. There very affordable online from kensfish.com . I like the "singlebright" series and have about 8 fixtures by now lol...they save on electricity and bulb changes aswell.

Haha. He really does almost need one. I don't have money to buy another tank. I've considered moving him To my pond but he is just small enough for my bass to eat. I'm gunna fatten him up a little more till I move him to the 600 gallon pond.
