picking a flowerhorn from the LFS

To be honest... if your looking at Frys.. it depends.... 50/50 u'll get good quality fish.... when they are young its very hard to tell...
Usually.. what u look for is any signs of colors on the head or the bottom of the fish.... or pearls on the fish.. along with flowerline....
Theres different names for the FH.. and it also varies..

Like everyone has said, fry can be tough. When I pick, I look for color, pearls and flowerline. I personally like faders, so I try to pick those out of the tanks. I've only got one now, but he was fading at 1.25" at the LFS. I plan on picking up another one or two this weekend. One will be a 2" fading yellow. There's nothing else fading in my LFS so I'll be looking at all the fry and probably picking the one with the reddest fins.
