im trying to figure out where in my house i can fit a HUGE tank. there are some poss. places but they dont have much light. does it matter if you fishtank doesnt get much natural light? i would obviously have a light fot the fish tank itself

I actually make a point to place my tanks away from windows because of the rapid algae growth that it's caused me in the past.

ok thank you. its a pretty dark room. its that me and my dad are arguing where to put it, his argument is that i cant put it in where i think is a perfect spot becouse it is to dark. although most fish like it dark anyway haha

I would put it away from windows and drafts and close to an electrical outlet. Also position it for good viewing, future possible maintenance (close to a water source/sink) ,and if it is a large tank, in a position where the floor will safely support it.

as little natural light as possible is best.

thats why you have aquarium lights on the tank.

natural light just adds glare and sunlight causes big time algae/green water problems.

as far away from a window as you can as well, from light issues as well as draft issues.

also, if you are getting a huge tank, make sure it is on ground level unless you are going to re-inforce your floors. big tanks are extremely heavy and the weight is concentrated in a small area (whatever parts of your stand are touching the floor).

good luck
