Picking this guy up tomorrow, the seller has had him in a tank with CA cichlids and some oddballs since he was 1" so hoping he does ok with the others in my tank. What do you guys think of him? Low quality?

I wouldn't grade any fish.
They should be healthy and active when choosing. He looks nice..
Good and thick flowerline, and tail has bit double row! As well, the thick flower on head..

I liked the mouth and its shape, nice golden tint on head and face...He got aa nice pink on body but stomach looks overfeed!(?), not sure..

Well, so If I can ask, these both photos taken on same day same time? The one photo has good head and the other photo looks shrunken head... just observed it, or may be direction of photography... Overall I like that fella personally...

Dont mind me asking , but howmuch LFS asking??

And, on photobucket, are there all ur collection including new tank? Man, a tank 7' long... good one.. and good concrete foundation !!!

Update us when possible, and when he gets settled, he looks very modern FH...

Yes they're all fish of mine, not all in the same tank of course! I'm just not experienced with flowerhorns, I just thought it looked like a Trimac.. It's from a private seller, pictures are all on the same day so I think it must just be a different angle that caused the head to look smaller, thought it looked a bit fat too but will have a proper look when I get there. I'm paying £25, or about $38.

I don't go for grading either, I go on personal preference; to me that is a very promising FH, looks really healthy, best of luck with him

Just picked him up, really nice chunky little fish! He had paired up with a female festae in the other guys tank and that had started to cause some problems, fingers crossed he'll do ok with my stock. Will upload some pics once he settles in.

Off to a great start.. My urophthalmus and the new flowerhorn went at it for about 20 minutes straight, eventually the flowerhorn backed down and got an ass kicking from my festae too so hopefully he's learning his place!

Ha ha! he is a lover boy! Good to see him in your tank.. And yes, he looks like from trimac family.
This fella can cause an issue and can crack the peace in your tank for sure.. But if he gets good roaming space and with others wise guys, he should be settling quickly.

Moreover, I hope you have read many threads why flowerhorn (or near to the species) are kept alone in the tank if tank is narrow.. I meant if you are putting him >75 G with many hiding points he should be good..

Well, all the best and keep us updated as he grows, whenever you can.. Good to see the updates..

This tank is 260g, 7ft long, 2.5ft wide, 2ft high so I'm hoping there'll be enough space for everyone. I've been at work all day and won't finish for another 4 hours so fingers crossed everything is ok when I get home!
