Sorry guys more about my fahaka. My guy has been devouring shrimp, crayfish, smelts, ect ect no problem since I bought him well over a year ago. For the last two weeks he will only eat frozen crayfish, which would be fine if I was not almost out of them and have a really hard time finding new ones. She just begs at the glass for food, but will not strike unless its a cray. Anyone every experience this problem? He is in great health. The only thing that has changed over the last couple weeks is my water change schedule. I went from a once a week 25% water change to two 25% changes per week. Any thoughts? Any crayfish whole sellers?

well from the sounds of it...you got your Fahaka Puffer hooked on those Crays too much and it just wanted more and more but only the Crays....this will be difficult to change its diet from the Crays to something else....next time just go make his diet more varied than usual and mi it around every day....like raw shrimp for 1 day a few times a week with some krills, crabs, crays, and silversides and anything else you can get your hands on....just don't count on those Crayfishes all the time....they are good to wear down the beak of the puffer but too much will cause addiction to them

thats kind of the weird thing. Crays were never a staple in his diet. Shrimp was my staple. He got a cray once every couple weeks. Recently since his last one he is just not willing to take anything else. Since he is only eating the crayfish and rejecting everything else I try, I am not feeding him very often.

How big is the puffer? How large is the tank? Water parameters? How often are you feeding?

I honestly think she just might be going through puberty. Starting last night she is now nailing anything that hits the water and is more aggressive then ever.

That time of the month I guess...
