Hi everyone I’m new here... I was given 2 jaguar chiclids one male one female.
The male is about 6 inches and the female is 3.5 inches. They came with food but the original owner doesn’t really remember what kind of was. The pellets are extra large and round but flat. I have tried other round pellets no interest. And I purchased north fin carnavore same size and shape as the ones that came with the fish, and they spit it out. Does anyone have any suggestions. Can’t feed blood works everyday!!!
thank you so much for reading.

Welcome aboard
The Carnivore pellets may be to large or hard for them to eat. I suggest feeding them a pellet brand for Cichlids New Life Spectrum or Omega One. Give them a little time the Jaguar Cichlid's should start eating. Also don't feed Bloodworms for a couple of days keep offering the pellets.

I agree, they should take to other foods when they get hungry. Those original pellets may have been hikari massivore sinking carnivore pellets. If I remember right they are that shape. I would try hikari cichlid gold and cichlid staple pellets, or maybe freeze dried shrimp that aren't too big for them to eat. All my fish take those readily. Also I've noticed that when fish have only had floating pellets, it takes them a little time to get used to sinking pellets that sit unmoving on the bottom. Make sure they see the pellets on the way down before they hit bottom.
