My L200 is super picky and refuses any vegetable I give him (wild caught adult from Spencer Jack that I bought quite a while back) but I recently found out he loves dried seaweed (porphyra yezoensis). My question is how nutritious is this for them? And is it ok as a staple?

Seaweed is fine for them, just not so great for your water. Try sweet potato, and green mango, those have always been favorites of mine. How big is your L200, and is it a hifin, or standard?

Its a standard and it's a tad over 7" long.

I feed mine Omega One Veggie Wafers. Seems to enjoy it. It definitely prefers the Frozen Bloodworms that I throw in for my Dats over the wafer though.

He won't eat any of that, the only food he would eat is the algae growing in the tank but he has since eaten all of it. I'm just glad he's eating something for now

If he's only eating algae, you could put some large stones in a container outside so it grows algae on it. Before you put it in your tank, maybe you can affix some zucchinni with rubber bands around the algae covered stone; maybe it;ll learn to eat the zuchinni that way?

Thanks for that algae and large rock idea, Linus. i'll try that for my baby royals!

how long do you think the algae would stay edible for them once it gets put in the tank? (tanks next to my bed, thus out of sunlight)

I'm guessing the algae would be ok in the tank for a week, but I'm guessing once it's discovered by your plecs it will last less than a day or two.
