I just got a beautiful silver from juantamad. It has been in my tank since this time yesterday, and is already cruising comfortably and suspiciously around it's tank. It, is not eating any of it's favorite foods; silversides, sticks. Is it just that old arowana charm? Will he give in soon? It has been 2 days since he has eaten. How should I give him food, especially with two vacuum cleaner oscars in there with him? Thanks guys!

My black aro took about a month before she would eat regularly and my larger silver went about 10 days before eating when I got him. One of two things regarding the oscars, either your aro will become stressed at feeding time(which is a problem) or it will learn to become an aggressive feeder. Only time will tell.

when i bought my first aro it was a silver and was 6 inches
and like an idiot i bought 2x 5"oscars along,
my aro ate earthworms the day it came home,
but after three days its tail started drooping
and then it was RIP for the aro

wow, thanks for the consolation lol

Arows need to time adjusting to their new environment some take a long time and some quickly.. he will be okay but keep trying and any uneaten food {that the oscars do not get remove} let us know and congradulations on your purchase..

Give the fish some time. Aros take awhile to adjust. Keep us updated!

How bout a pic?

Ditch the oscars and get some severums, or uarus, juruparis or a datnoid, they will not bother your aro and are more sedate then oscars. Just make sure they are large enough that they will not be eaten and small enough that they won't intimidate the aro while it's getting used to them. A school of tin foil barbs or silver dollars will work too.
