This stuff has popped up within the last 2 weeks. It has spread rapidly recently and kinda want an ID. i believe its detritus. How can I get it to go away? I didn't have this issue on my main tank... It may be associated with the disappearance of the clown goby

Looks like clown goby guts to me. No wait, it looks like diatoms. Yep, diatoms. But if it turns purple in the next week or two then it is definitely clown goby guts.

Is the tank a fresh fill? Are you using RO/DI or just RO?

i think its just cyano bacteria not to underplay it but you can just up the flow on your filter or do a two quick water changes

A clown goby rotting in there could be fueling a small outbreak

If it is brown algae - this is caused by diatoms

If it is cyano bacteria - this is caused by phosphates, and nitrates can help...which is where your dead goby would come in.

Usually cyano is a reddish/purple color though.

Say its cyano... how do I eradicate it? I am assuming the goby died and has all buy been dissolved or eaten in that tank... So It makes sense...

I'm with Forrest. It's cyano. The dead fish spiked the phosphate and more or less just fertilized it.
Siphon it out, and do a water change.

And Im with Matt.

Clear out the phosphates and physically remove the slime. If your sand is super fine, you can use some airline tubing to siphon it out very gently.
