this summer at school i took a biological oceanography class. its more or less about what drives the ocean's physical properties. it was a very interesting class. the best part was we got to go to a oceanographic institute for 12days. it was a lot of work on the trip. we drove down to Skidaway Institute of Oceanography in savannah, ga. we were lectured by a few of the scientists down there on basic stuff that we learned before we left on campus, just a little more in depth
then we went on their research vessel out to sea for 2 days straight. we did lots of tests, like sediment core samples, light, salinity, temp, O2, and chlorophyll tests as well as collected plankton samples. we went SE about 30miles to a station where we did some work, then 20miles east out to sea. after the boat trip we spent the rest of the time analyzing our data and looking at core samples to make group presentations. the class is pretty much over we just have to write a paper due next thursday FTL. well enough babble, here are the pics, some from the boat some from around the institute.
