My family owns about 200 acres of land a little north of Birmingham, Alabama that we hunt on. This year has been a terrible drought. My dad sent me these pics our game camera took. As you can see the deer are VERY skinny so Im a little bummed out. Anyhow enjoy the interesting pics.
The rut doesnt start till December down there. The bucks hide in the THICK stuff until then.
With all the deer I am surprised there werent even young bucks around... :/
Last year I chased a monster buck for 3 days, but never got a shot off. Hopefully this year I will get him. Hunting down there is tough. In mid to late November it could easily get into the 80's and the woods are very thick and tough to walk through let alone hunt/shoot/track/see through.
The last three years we havnt shot anything but a couple does and letting anything less then 8points walk hoping to grow out some big deer. Unfortunately the entire property is surrounded by a hunting club and who knows what they are shooting.
Like I said they are so skinny now because of the drought. Come winter when there really is no food they are going to be in trouble. If we dont take several deer does this year many would suffer because there is not enough to eat. We havnt killed a doe in three years so there are plenty there. In fact the county we hunt in uped the limit from one buck and and one doe a day to one buck and two does a day!
BTW these are just a few pics. The camera took over 200. My dad is going to send me some more including one with a coyote in it.
