Pics of Midas vent-- need opinions

My new juvie Midas stole the pleco's algae wafer tonight and ballooned up like a pig. The upside is, I was able to see his/her vent and got pictures. She's just under 3" so it might be too early to tell, but looks female to me. Could you all give me some opinions? I'd really appreciate it, as my personal experience venting fish is veeeery limited. Here are the pics:

Thats not the vent.

To accuratly vent the fish, the fish must be removed from water and held upside down. Plus its still too young to accuratly sex.

Okay thanks. Can you not vent young fish because the vents don't look morphologically different until they are sexually mature?

The vent is not the ovipositor that hangs down, it's the hole, one is the butt one is the vent OO and oO I believe...... But when mature I believe they dook look different. You can vent brfore all that happens, just not yet.....

So I guess just looking at the breeding tube or ovipositor is not a definite way to sex them? I always thought it was...

It is.

It looks like a female to me. Males will have more of a hook and be pointer, though the fish is still pretty young. It's tough when you just have one sex to go off of, when you get male/female next to each other it's much easier to see the differences.
