Looks like a lepidota to me. I've got a male that looks a lot like that. How big is he (looks male also)?

definitely not a sveni. im doubtful on a lepidota. possibly an undescribed saxatilis species.

looks like Crenicichla cf. saxatilis 'Oyapock' from the below site.

Why doubtful on lepidota? It looks very similar to my lepidota male. I've got pictures up in another thread here in the media lounge. Here's a quick pic of him.

The only reason I'd see to doubt it is that his pike doesn't seem to have any red in the eyes, but I don't know if that is a requirement or not.

Sp. "Saxatilis" unless you know where it came from. . . hahaha the spot pattern is WAY different to yours Conner, same with the "tear" below the eye.

The pic I put up is of a fairly large male. Judging from the pictures I think his is a little smaller. Its spotting and "tear" are very similar to my smaller two lepidota. The spangling gets more pronounced and spreads down the flanks below the black line on the sides as they get larger.

Here's a picture that shows a little better what I mean.

I'm not saying its 100% a lepidota, I'm just saying it bears a very striking resemblance to the lepidota that I have in my tank.

Yet again another reason why I stick to Lugubris pikes. . . .

Hey, just trying to put my 2 cents in. I like my lepidotae, they're nice pikes.
