So i got my 2nd red fin pickerel today (other one passed away because of really bad fungus) I ordered it off of www.aquaculturestore.com, they are really nice there and have a lot of fresh water native fish if your looking for any. So ill post some pictures of my pickerel and blue gill that i caught in a minnow trap a couple weeks ago. My question with the blue gill is what is the small spot on his tail in the last picture? I think that it may just be dead skin or something from a injury but if you know what it may be please let me know:grinno:

Nice pickeral.. looks alot like a pike. Not sure whats up with your bluegill, but I'd give it a bit of time and see if it heals on it's own.

BTW, what's the max size on those redfins??

From what Ive heard they only max at 16'' in the wild but only around 10'' in aquariums. awesome cause there like a small version of a pike:D

what you have is a pumpkinseed, not a bluegill, and it looks to me like scar tissue from an injury. just let it heal it should be alright.

also, judging by how tattered its pelvic fins look, its a good chance its just an injury.

Yeah that kinda makes sense, I caught all of the fish together and that was the only one that had that color on his head. My red tail ate the other 2 like him. So i guess i just have 2 small baby blue gill.

the thing on the sunfish's tail is a tail fluke, it is best just to scrape the fluke off your fishes tail gently, and very nice pickerel i might add, i am jealous
