In a more southern Central American biotope, the tetras here in Panama are slightly different.

Roeboides tetras above, a Panamanian Pleco below.

And shrimp from a local stream, although they are usually only temporary tank residents.

And then there are the feral cats.

And an occasional toad that use the sump to bathe.

Very nice Duane ?You should be able to find astyanax bimculatus in Panama too. They range from Panama down to northern Argentina. One of those SA species that are found north like your acaras, and plecos.
Edit: I’ve always wanted roeboides Guatemalensis. Very cool species ?

Thanks! They are breeding like crazy. Think I have 12 and a lot of fry in the hornwort. Some more pics. You can see how big the largest female is in comparison to an adult female firemouth. Been trying to get side by side pics.
