It doesnt look like HITH. Though it could be an EARLY EARLY start It's hard to tell.
It doesnt even matter if he has HITH or not.

Treatment is basically just a good diet and keeping your water pristine. Which is your goal regardless.

Feed him a variety besides pellets. Krill, crickets, worms etc. You can also soak his pellets in liquid vitamins supplements like Vita-Chem.

Then just make sure you are keeping his water pristine by maintaining it with weekly water changes and make sure your filtration is what it should be.

That's the cure for HITH. Pretty simple.
THough HITH takes time to have visible improvements, its a sure fire way to get rid of it.

My thoughts exactly.
Even if it is an early start of HITH it's nothing that clean water and varied diet cant take care of.

looks more like lateral line erosion than hith...

Thats what HITH is. :)
Head and Lateral Line Erosion- a.k.a.- Hole in the Head.

Usually it starts on the sensory pits at the head, which is why its referred to as Hole in the Head. Usually it works its way down the lateral line in advanced cases.

Well technically it can erode on the lateral line before the sensory pits...it wouldn't make sense to call it HITH if its on their side?
