As some of you know I am trying to get a few juv svenis to pair up. Up till now they have been in a planted 29g and were doing great, till I added some SDs that happened to bring ich with them, and I lost 1 of the pikes (could care less about the SDs). So in addition to curing the fish I decided to switch tanks and replant their 29 into a 60g. The ick is gone now and the tank is growing healthy, as are the pikes. I also added a couple new fish to the mix so the roster reads as follows:
3 c. sveni juvs. 3-4''
1 c. sp. bellycrawler 4''
1 Barred Midas 3''
1 female festae 2.5-3''
1 distochodus 3'' (so sue me for throwing in an african fish)
The pikes are active but a little shy so it was hard to get good pics of them, but I got a few. Tell me what you all think and if you think that you can sex them at this age with these pics, please do.

That is a beautiful planted tank Rob, and love the Svenis, but wont the midas start digging up the plants. Would not want to see that to happen to it. I don't know if Festae dig or not.

The midas is and festae are just being used as dithers sort of. Not so much as punching bags but to encourage the pikes to come out from cover a bit more. Helps them with their skittishness. At their present size the non crenicichla cichlids arent gonna do much damage.

A couple of the tankmates....

Oh, yeah, forgot to add, this is the view from my bed. I watch my tank more than I watch TV.

male festae might start diggin at 5-6"

nice setup though
Is that a male. SOB sold it to me as a female! They arent gonna stay in there. In fact Im probably gonna switch tanks, the juvis will go to another planted 60, and Johanna will move in.

That distochodus looks great. I absolutely love them, they get large, are pretty active, and look great!!! I thought they would tearup/eat the plants though? Interesting! Very great set up though bro! Lookin great 100%!!! Can't really sex the pikes yet, although leaning towards males in the photos with them in it...haha.

Female festae generally have the blotch in their dorsal fin....its practically impossible to miss it....;)
