Today I've finally filled the tank after 3 weeks of slacking off. I ordered live water from someone because I've worked out it was actually cheaper than buying salt and mixing it in myself. Right now its only got maybe 10kg of LR in there, running with a sump and another 1500L/hr cannister. What should I put in the sump? It has space for a refugium so i might do that, but are a couple of mangrove plants and a light all I need for the refugium? Should I also put some wool and bio balls in there? I heard bio balls builds up too much crap, and I'm not too sure about wool. The cannister has been running my old tank, and when I took it apart it has been running my LR, so it should be invalueable in hellping me seed the tank.

Oh yeah, need some aragonite too.

Any more tips and comments, blast away!

Do you have sand in there? Looks like its barebottom.

What do you plan on keeping in there?

Its bare bottom at the moment. Will be adding aragonite and more Live Rock later on.

SO far I think,3-4 Dominos to cycle and let them grow abit, Yellow and Scopas Tang, Volitan Lion and a snowflake eel. Maybe a Panther Grouper as well, depending on price.

Please just get a piece of raw shrimp and put it in your tank until the ammonia spikes then take it out. It is cruel to use fish to cycle. I would also take all the bio material out IE the balls and wool. The canister filter can be used for running carbon or purigen and that's about it. In a salt tank all the biological filtration comes from the live rock and live sand.
