here are 3 pics taken in succession of my new salvini ambushing my festae. this has been happening quite a bit the first 2 days i put the salvini in there. the festae has quit coming to that part of the tank. watching them closely to see if they need to be separated. tank is 100g with lots of hiding spots. has anyone had long term problems with keeping salvinis together with festae?

wam!! in a split second slams the festae by surprise!

by the time the festae reacts the salvini has retreated back to its hiding spot.

all kidding aside... should i take the festae out now? i love this fish. hard to find them around here. neither fish has any visible damage now and the festae can hold its own, but i find the salvini is sneakier and likes to ambush. don't wanna wake up one morning and lose a fish. thanks for your replies!

Yeh You may want to move the Festae. If there has been no real damage and it has only been a couple days, then they may work it out soon. But then again You may get up or return home sometime to find one dead or badly beaten.

what size tank is that? and what else is in there?

I wish I could find another festae, I havent seen them in stores in almost a year

I think your Salvini is a male and the Festae is a female and he is interested. The tank is plenty big. Don't think you will have to take it out.

that festae looks male to me so i doubt that is it, im sure they are just figuring everything out, the sal is seeing how much he can get away with without getting his arse kicked. if there isnt any real damage then i would just let them sort it out, just make sure to keep a close eye on them
