In the last picture, on the arican side-neck, is that the beginning of shell rot, the discolored part? It was on the turtle when I got him around 1 month ago.

The basking area he is on is not flat but kinda bumpy, could it be from that.

Hes on the dry end of the brown decoration a lot.

I dont know if this helps but he just shed.

Hum there could be some shell rot in there all rigth. Your setup is ok, just make shure that artificial rock cant fall and hurt your turt, in general rocks take out too much space, a better island is a big chunk of cork and your turt can use the underneath as a hidding place. Is there any chance you could take your turt to see a exotic vet? I could descrive the treatment for you but its risky, shame if I were there I would treat that in a instant...

No vet around here for exotics, im going to buy a turtle dock to get the rock out and the decoration, giving him more space.

Ok but I beleave there is some putrid material underneath that 4 scale join that needs to be removed...

yay thats what I waas thinking, since the basking spot is bumby and not smooth, im going to switch it out for cork bark or a turtle dock. I also looked online and it could be a very mild shell rot. Treament said to lightl brush infected area and put hydrogen perioxide or Nolvasan on it. Any suggestions if its a abrasion?

I say let it be and do the modification you want to do, its better then risking harming your turtle and it doesant seem much on the infected side. In time as the scales grow it will disapear
