hey my buddy has this awesome moss taking over his tank, its a 55g with dual t5ho lights on for only 8 hours a day, no ferts, no natural sunglight. and heres his awesome birchir too.

he keeps the nitrates down, i know for a fact he does 50% wc weekly

Thats Black beard algae, it might look cool now but it will over run and kill slower growing plants. if you ever want to get rid of it you have to dose the tank with co2. I used flourish exel to get rid of it in my tank.
And the only algae eater that will eat it is the Siamese algae eater, and that will only eat the new parts of it, not old long strands.

Also it usually comes from low flow I believe so try adding another filter or a small ppwerhead.
