Ok so i set up my 25 planted tank finally let it cycle for 1 week with a betta in it and now the tank is set up and halfway stocked...

Stocklist:

10 ghost shrimp
12 neons
1 male betta
2 raphael cats
1 serpe tetra leftover from downstairs tank

Question#1

Do i need to run a bubbler at night for the fish or will the filter be enough oxygen for the fish to survive?

Plants:

Hygrophila corymbosa
x2 Hemianthus callitrichoides( dwarf baby tears)
moss ball
x1 of another i forget name of ill post pictures though

Pictures will hopefully be up tonight if not they will be up when i get home from school tomorrow

it's always good to have a air stone.... plants?

Sounds good, but I think raphael cats get a bit too big for that tank.

Having an airstone is good, but why just at night? You should always run the filter, but running the airstone only sometimes probably wouldn't be terrible...just not as good as all the time.

you dont need an airstone. the only tanks that could ever benefit from and airstone are severely under filtered as proper filtration should aerate the water and break surface tension.

their generally slow growers from what ive seen. the guys ive had, including my current, dont grow very long. they do get extremely wide and fat however. my current one is almost 2 years old, and only 3-4", however a good 3" around lol

the reason for my question about the stone is that the airation/surface agitation releases the c02 i was justwondering if the fish definetly need an airstone.. The cats are in there until my 35g stand comes in next friday..

And i heared that it is a good idea just to run the airstone at night in planted tanks

Just asking the experts picture will be up tomorrow

Depends on your filtration. Usually if you have some sort of hang on tank filter or a filter in the hood, you're already getting enough surface agitation and a bubbler is redundant.

I only recommend a bubbler if there is zero surface aggitation.

tank's been running for 1 week with a betta? your tank is not cycled. in fact, its far from cycled. youll need more than a betta in there and about 6 weeks to cycle that tank

i didn't say that right it was had running water in it for about 2 months...I just put the betta in a week and half ago to get the ammonia and that stuff set.

that still means its not cycled :screwy:

Plain old water wont do you any good. It wouldnt matter if you had the tank running empty for a decade...its still not cycled
