I finally got some time to take some pics. I have some questions on live plants. I have seen some pics of some tanks with live plants and I am thinking about doing it to mine. Is it hard to maintain? Is there any secrets in making sure the plants thrive? How much lighting do I need.

they can be as hard or as easy as you want

hard = co2 ,tons of light hight ferts ect

or get a grow bulb , add ferts during water changes and add some easy plants ,java fern , mosses grasses ect

your choice

If you intend to keep discus with plants, either do a very minimal setup or go all out. These fish don't tolerate the middle ground. I have mine in my 135 planted tank. I closely monitor all my basic nutrients for plant growth, I have pressurized co2, plant substrate, 715 watts of CF lighting, dose ferts, use RO/DI water, and closely monitor my TDS.

if you want them to grow and thrive you should use a co2 injection
