Does anyone know of any pcitures online of Halochromine and typical Mbuna setups for ideas for setting up new tank, would be nice to see some clear pics of people's rockwork layed out nicely!

Welcome to MFK. :welcome: :newbie: Great place to obtain peoples personal experiences.
Had some pics posted under my Gallery, but since they changed the setup have not been able to find them.
Through trial and error I have found that rocks at either end tend to work a lot better with mbuna. This does not allow 1 dominant fish to control the entire reef.
:naughty: :woot: :clap :headbang2

Here is my 125g. It is not totally like their African home, however, it has got a natural feel and there are lots of hiding places. The tank, at this time, only has 20 fish. Adding a couple fish every month until 40 or so. (To all the real good eyes, yes, there is a HAP in the picture, a peacock)

That is a lovely shot there, do you mind if I save it to my computer might put it as my desktop backrground, you've used lots of those flat type rock s that I thinka lways look superb in Malawi tanks! What stock do you have inside it?

Incredible Pictures there. I remember keeping some Pseudotropheus Zebra and Labidochrmois Caureleus and was amazed at the aggression for such small fish, they would anything, the Cnetral American Cichlids that I kept for years were great fun but for entertainment value and constant movement the Malawais are hard to beat, am really looking forward to spending an hour a day in front of a fish tank again. I am planning on mixing some Melanochromis and Pseudotropheus with some Nimbochromis in a 6 ft 8 inch by 24 inch by 24 inch tank with quite a bit of rock work, like that tank deisng with rocks at edge and open swimming in the middle looks very nice, still allows reffuge for fry too.

Here's a shot of the old 60, at that time home to several mbuna, haps and plecs. :)

I'm a bigger fan of the natural look, not that the decor in this tank was a very good representation of the actual lake since the sand was too white and there was no uniformity of the rocks - but I was satisfied with it at the time.
