so here is the terror.. princess lily(gf named her.) so i had a cichlid community tank and the gf wanted a fish of her own... she was the smallest and hid and ran till she was big enough to pick them off one by one... im going to try night time shots and see if i can get better ones(especially of her red teeth(pretty cool and her eyes(looks like she has blue eyeliner) just think she is pretty and wanted to see what you all think about her...

Beautiful! That is what I think about her. I hope I can get one of mine to have fins like that. Few questions.

Is she in the community then?
Who are her roomates?
How old is she?
What size tank?

she is in a 75 gallon
pleco for only roomate
she is almost 2 years old

who where her roommates? is the question...

can't be kept with anything but the pleco... i tried a midas(got returned to petstore multiple times for destroying peoples fish) 2 inches longer and fuller than her and even took her out and rearranged tank... she tried to breed with him(laid eggs) next thing i know i come home to my girlfriend screaming she is eating him... seriously she was eating him.... also killed a 4" male convict(my favorite fish i owned) when she grew to the same size and was locking up with a male dempsey who was about 8 inches when she was 4" killed him when she got around same size.

even though she killed my prize convict she has grown on me. when i walk up to tank and shake her food bag she comes rushing out from hidding to meet me... if not shaking bag she tries to rip you apart from behind the glass.. its cool cuz you can hear her chomp.. and head but glass when she comes flying out... and ill walk back and forth with my fingers and shell chase me up and down the tank....

i have never fed her live food... my dempsey and convict ill look for pictures were beautiful too only frozen and pellets... this was first tank i didn't do feeders and it is amazing the colors you can get out of a fish!

good luck with yours.. and try to keep an eye on aggressiveness so you can take them out.. i wasn't around when any of my fish died, deployment training for the convict and work for dempsey and midas... it sucks when you lose them.. i definately would have tried to save them in another tank..

Im not 100% sure, but I think thats a flowerhorn (or red texas attempt) that you have. Ive had several Texas and Carpintis and none of them ever had the trailers yours have (males or females)...or the black spots like a trimac (which the trailers are also a trait of trimacs). They would get the bars when agitated, but never the 3 black spots.

Also, there seems to be a purplish sheen on yours, but it might be the lighting. Great looking fish either way, I just dont think its a 100% cyanoguttatus.

thanks for response! i have seen other peoples texas cichlids with the spots going halfway like mine.. also the lines go away when you leave her alone. she does have a purple tint though(I LOVE IT!!) so maybe she isn't a pure texas? anyone else have info? thanks!

Looks like mines which I think is a hybrid of some sort. Was labeled as A texas when I got it 2.5 yrs ago at about 1.5"

Sweet fish, you keep anything with it? how big a tank?

Heres a slightly better video that show his suttle red hue hence I think he is a flowerhorn or RT attempt. Both the pix and vid are from my phone so bare with me. The Rd is in a tank alone know cause he was almost killed, I mean beat down something horrible. But in the 180 there is also a mayan and JD about 2-3" each whom the tex doesn't bother at all, weird man weird. [YT]W0Rf5JJ50AY&feature=channel[/YT]

yea one night my girlfriend could here my fish slamming the other fish into the tank all night.... and its 3 rooms down in a big apartment.. someone else on the forums mentioned that if i go bigger it might work.. i have been looking for a 125 and might try that out...

talked to breeder and also ran by some knowledgeable peeps at family owned fish store and they said my fish is 100% texas looking... and that yours double R definately is a FH/Texas hybrid..
