Pictus and bichir

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've kept them together. The pictus hogged the food and I had to separate them in order for my 2 senegals to get a full meal. Aggression wise they were fine. Just have plenty of caves so there is no need for fighting.

I would have thought if its long term the pictus would become dinner eventually and this may kill the bichirs trying to eat them,it would be ok for a while imo.

Depends on the type of bichirs involved. Sens should be fine for the most part, except what was mentioned about the pictus hogging the food. My Hoplo does it so Id imagine pictus would be worse. Any of the larger species of bichirs would definitely take a shot at the pictus though.

I've kept a P. blochii with an ornate poly for a little over a year with the only issue being that it becomes hard to feed the polypterus at times, since the cat is such an eager eater.
