So my favorite LFS just got very nice looking REAL pictus in. And I was wondering if my fake pictus (My spotted pim the other lfs sold me as a pictus) would get along with the pictus and like having the buddy?
I think it was Bass you said he'd like to have a buddy... does it still count now that we figured out my pictus isn't as much of a pictus anymore?
(think hes a p. maculatus)

Here's my dandy Rosco P. Coaltrain
I'm really happy that he's finally eatting like a cat should! He's so cute with a Marble Belly :D

There are two types of pictus, one is from Columbia and the other is from Peru, it looks like you have a columbian pictus here... Eitherway it will most likly school with the new pictus... just remember that they prefer to be in groups of 3 or more or they will tend to stay alittle shy ;)

Oi! back and forth and back and forth! I'm gettin dizzy:ROFL:
First he's a pictus, then he's a spotted pim, now he's a columbian pictus...?
I figured the ID in the pictus thread would have been right... alright, well Rosco is definitely different than the ones in the lfs... he has linear spots while the ones at the lfs have a random pattern and are much darker... have spots on their tails too, Rosco doesn't...

Well... off to logging practice... maybe I'll stop by the lfs after I chop a few blocks, or tomorrow... haha

i still dont think its a pictus, of either variety. I dont know much about Maculatus. whether it is a schooling fish or not, so it may or may not school with P Pictus. Planetcatfish say they can be kept in groups so i think they may try and school with the pictus. but not 100% on that.

I'm still confused with all the id's since both pictus and maculatus have spots on their tails, and Rosco doesn't have anything on any of his fins...

Ok well definetly not a P. maculatus, nor a P. Mysteriosus, Could be a P. Absconditus... but I can't find any real photos to look it up against... Thats about all I can think of since I looked again at the Columbian Pictus and it doesn't seem to be that either...

Perhaps someone like Wayne the Pain should look at this... I think he's prob one of the guys that could tell you for sure.

It would be nice to finally know... haha
maybe I have a special new secret kind of fish no one knows of yet!!!:naughty:
...:screwy:

Or... maybe he's just confused poorly bred thing....

Alright, we'll havn't decided if I want the other pictus or not
SO....
Here's some more pics of Rosco
Nothing exciting... but I was bored and decided to play with my camera and practice taking fish pics with the crappy lil thing
