Got a question on pictus cat before i get one.. I currently have a 30 gallon tank with cory cats and some dwarf gourami.. Whats the minimum size tank needed for a pictus cat? will it do fine in my 30 gallon community tank when it gets to its full adult size.

--Thanks in advance

They are a fairly small species but their activity makes IMO anything less then a 40-55g not suitable. I had to keep mine in a 30g on a short term basis and hated it. The fish would spaz out and smack itself into the glass or just dart around with no purpose in mind.

But, the ones that I have had are very active and like to have some space to swim.

Agreed, mine is in a 55. Doesn't need it for bio-load, but for swimming space. Very active fish. Some good hiding spots help, like driftwood.

Mine's in my 29 (upgrading to a 75 soon YAY!) but he seems to do alright in it. He has a log that he hides out in most of the day and come out after the lights go out.
I wouldn't reccomend it for life though.

I would get a bulble bee cat or two. there are a lot of different types from 3-7 inches. depends what you want. id say get a smaller asian one for a 30.
