I have a pictus catfish...he is happy and healthy living in a 90 gallon aquarium with FW cudas and i have never had a problem...every one minds there own business.....so i thought i would get the little guy a friend....so i got anothr pictus and quarintened it for a few weeks and then added it to the tank....which in 2 days he developed a bad case of fin rot...in a matter of a few days all the poor guys fins were at least half gone.....so i ripped my tank apart....removed the unhealthy catfish...treated the tank to protect the otehr fish and then put the sick guy in a hospital tank full of chemicals....lol....and in a week all his fins grew back and he was healthy again.....i left him in there for 2 months to be positive he was 100 % and then a few days ago i reintroduced him to the tank...and here we are 3 days later and his fins are rotting away again...yet the other pictus is fine??? Can anyone help me here.....what should i do about this

sounds like he might be getting stressed from the moves. You might have to try treating him in the big tank to cut down on the stress of moving the other alternative is to get rid of him, or just make him the resident of your hospital tank indefinite. How big's the hospital tank?

alot of pictus catfish can be sensitive to the chemicals you use to remove chlorine do you use the same chlorine remover on all of you tanks

yes...i always use the same water conditioner and the water quality in both tanks is really good....i have had him in the 90 for over a week now and from what i am starting to see is that the other pictus who was already in the tank is giving the poor guy a hard time...hes always chasing him and stuff like that to show his territory....probably really stresing him out...making the move that much harder....maybe 2 pictus together is a bad number....i might need either a group or just one so i guess he might have to come out and live in another tank...ill try treating the tank lightly first tho...see if it helps at all....thanks for the input
