Pictus cats

What water conditions do pictus cats prefer? I keep getting mixed info, some say they need brackish, some say they do fine in both freshwater and brackish. Do they prefer to be kept in groups? any other info i should know about?

They will do fine in both brackish and freshwater. I'd recommend brackish though. 1 tbs. aquarium salt per 5 gal. I have kept several and they seem to do better in brackish than 100% pure freshwater. Mine also enjoyed schooling. I had 2 pictus catfish and 4 columbian sharks and the 6 of them schooled together all the time. They didn't fight or argue at all. Hope this helps.

Can only speak from my experiance, my Leiarius Pictus lives in 100% freshwater. Eats anything, tolerates water from 76--84 degrees. Gets along with fish his own size.

How big do they get? how many do you think i should get for an 80 gallon tank?

ive never seen that black pictus there cool! Well the size dpends on the pictus heres the two most common the fourlined pictus gets about eight inches and the it has four lines og dots on its pale body and there is a smaller version but theres no lines just spots and all love fw
