HI everyone! I will purchase a 125 gallon soon and I want to build a wet/dry filter for it! :headbang2 I just wanted to know if these are all the pieces to build a wetdry.

THis big 45 galloned wheeled storage box.

The 600 gph one, and the air box.

http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_powerheads_pumps_danner_mag_drive_supreme.asp?CartId=

and the Danner Supreme Mag-Drive 7 the one that does 700 gph.

I want to know, is the 45 gallon wheeled storage box good for the 125 gallon tank?

Do i need the air box? and is 600 gph for the overflow and the 700 gph pump good also?

Do i need anything else?
Thanks

How do i seperate the parts in the 45 gallon?

You can't run a 600gph overflow and a 7oogph pump it will flood The overflow has to be bigger than the pump. It doesn't mateer how big you go as long as its bigger. If you use the CPR overflow you need the air pump with it. It is very good I use the 1200gph one. The 45 gallon is more that enough for your 125

you could use hoses or pvc I believe. and dont forget to use ball valves!

The mag7 can be used when you take the head height into consideration. How high will the pump need to push the water?

Also, the output of the pump can be regulated slightly with a ball valve used as a bypass. For example, I use a 900gph pump on my 75gal. The pump can overflow the tank except that I have a tee on the pump output. One side of the tee goes to the tank, and the other side goes to a ball valve that recycles the water to a spraybar over my trickle filter. Doing it this way does not contribute any load to the pump at all. This also recirculates the water back over the bio-media.

Be very careful with any of the wheeled type containers,,,either the axle penetrates the interior and will leak, or the material is thin and stressed where the axle attaches.

Use egg crate (light covers) with pvc legs, to separate filter media from bio-material (scrubbies) and to hold bio-material off the bottom.

Be careful with that particular container. I have one and if the water starts to rise in it the sides bow. Not very strong and the axle is a weak point also.

I use 2 mag7's with my tank (125g) which has 2 1" built in overflows. Why? Because with the overhead of 3-5feet the mag7 will push out roughly 400-500gph which is on the money. I haven't had any flooding whatsoever.

But as of last week, I changed the pumps to the quiet one's, 3000 (780gph @ 0' head) and still no problems. Only reason I changed to the quiet one's are well, as the name sez..its freaking quiet compared to my mag7's.:banhim: :grinno:

If you want, spend under $100 and make it nice. I used a 20g H tank, 3 piece of plexi 12"x12", eggcrate they type you use in office lighting from home depot, aquarium silicone (perfecto caulk tube), sterilite 3 drawer plastic box for pads and media. All this costed me around $78.

I've since modified it to use a 20g Long so I can put a heater into the sump. I'm at work now, so don't have pics, which is only a few...and I drilled two holes onto the end of the tank for bulkheads so I can have the pump's (quiet one's) connected via pvc inside the sump to stop movement/vibration.:naughty:
