its even funnier in real life. they sleep together, they argue, they swim together, eat together. They think there a mating pair. they clear out areas where it looks like there going to lay eggs, but never do.

it would be crazzzzzy to see a ven. pike cichlid X blood parrot hybrid

Does anybody know if its unusual for two different types of cichlids to do this? or does it happen a lot?

It's pretty common among cichlids for different species to pair up and breed. The main goal of any organism is to pass on it's genes. Without a suitable partner, odd pairs happen. I wouldn't think a pike/blood parrot spawn would be fertile, but it's not beyond the realm of possibility(depends on chromosome counts).
