Pike chiclid

A friend of mine bought me a pike for my Bday after I saw one in a magazine and mentioned that I'd like to have one some day.
I question that I have is that the lady that sold it to hime said that it will only eat feeders.. Is this true? Im just worried that it would get hole in the head syndrome, its whats Ive been told that my Oscars could get if they only ate live feeders..

Nah pikes are pretty easy to train on prepared food , hust try a lot of variety shrimp, crawfish, pellets . They wont starve themselves. good luck there pretty personable fish

Cichlid Gold and freeze dried krill are the staple foods for my pike.

Cool, I've got both of them here. New tank not quite finished so I put him with my oscars. How long is two long if they refuse to take to it? Thanks for the input thus far.

They are fast learners and avid eaters. I had a marbled pike cichlid, grew from a skinny 3" to a fat 8" in 3 months. Mine just went nuts 1 day and killed half the fish in the tank. I think mine was the exception to the rule, he wanted the whole tank (220) to himself. hopefully you have better luck, just something to keep your eye on.
