Today I went to local shop that gets wild caught stuff and saw this really cool pike cichlid.I usually only see the typical xingu gold species and sometimes a few other common ones .This one he said was rare and I can say I never seen one before and I am no pike expert but usually am pretty good about rare and not .
I thought might be rare cause usually the rare stuff he gets in gets singles and this guy was.
Any ideas?
I asked owner but he is a very nice asian man but he just said very rare wild caught ,.

LOL yeah I could .

Sorry forgot to post that 3" .It does not look the normal sexa to me atleast I have seen those before. The stripes have a red tint its hard to see from my pics .

best possible ID is the C.reticulata .I could only be so lucky cause they are rare .I am hoping but it looks promising .

Definitely a saxatiline group pike, not reticulata or lugubris. I tend to think it is Cr. sveni based on the markings along the back.

This is a Cr. marmorata. The fish you picked up is definitely not this fish. Sorry... :(

i picked up a sveni a few weeks ago and it looks very similar. not showing as many stress bars but very similar. mine is showing nice reds and yellows right now and is about 3.5". so similar size. a lot of sveni seem to be popping up now so its likely that's what it is

Thanks for id .

If anybody is interested in SoCal for pick up .I will sell him for $40 .I am sure it will be really nice when larger .
