I have a large Pike Cichlid which has never shown any signs of weakness until about a week ago.
She started by breathing slightly faster, then her abdomen started swelling much larger than normal.
I thought at first she'd eaten a tank mate, but she's non-aggressive, so turns out that wasn't it thankfully.
After a few days, some strange fatty-like tissue started rising up around her dorsal fins. It appears internal, as if there is a fluid build-up under her skin around her dorsal, and it appears white in color, and partially seeping a cm or more up the fin itself.
Her appetite is now gone, and she's extremely stressed. All other tank mates are absolutely fine.
I've never seen such an illness before in fish, so thought I would come here and see if any others have experienced it.
Let me know if anyone recognizes this per chance, and can let me know what it is.
