I have a 75 gallon setup with about 20 plants and just bought 3 2-3 inch pike cichlids and want to buy some peacock bass as well will they be okay together or not? I dont know the type of pike cichlids they are? BTW this is my first tank ive owned
Crenicichla and Cichla look superb together, and normally work out awesomely, IF you have them in a large enough of a tank. You'd need AT LEAST a 125gal tank, with larger being MUCH better.
It would work as a great grow out tank though, then as they get larger move them on to a larger tank.
You should post up some pictures, we'll do our best to help you ID them properly. The species of Crenicichla you got may affect it as well, since some grow larger than others.
Welcome to Crenicichla btw! Congrats on the new tank as well!
pbass and crenicichla work fine together. altho 75 gallons is to small for peacock bass. id would advise against getting the peacock bass unless ur going to buy a bigger tank in the near future (1 year).
you might want to consider some other ca/sa cichlids. id also advise to figure out what u want and get them soon while the fish are small. ive always had trouble mixing cichlids when they are larger, its always best to do it when they are juveniles.
I have 3 2.5"-3" crenicichla sveni will these work with peacock bass of the same size and definitally the future i will be buying a much larger tank within a year or so.
your biggest problem with likely be with the three sveni's. pikes tend to be very aggressive with other pikes. maybe it will work but most of the time it doesnt when they get bigger. they should be fine with the peacock bass tho
