Pike Cichlids,

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do you mean family or a specific one? There are many that grow to that size and more. I have probably had about 15 different ones that have reached a foot or more.

There are plenty to choose from. For the price I like the spangled pike like the menezesi or lepidota myself. Or if you want a cool pattern I would say either marmorata or lenticulata. Color you have the Atabapo or Red Cincta if you can find any. Or a female Cobra pike.

There are over a hundred described pikes. Lugubrious pikes grow to 12-14". You may have to fatten them up on live but most will except pellets. I have a johanna that eats Algae wafers. And my 3 Lenticulatas all eat a wide variety of food. The main thing with pikes is aggression Some are tank dominators, others are very placid community fish. I keep my Johanna with angels, but my Lents would kill them in a heart beat.

I currently don't have any to take pics. I am into some other stuff right now. But I will try to find the disk with my pike pics on them. Also, I always just starved my pikes to take pellets. I thought I was going to loose a Cobra pike a few years back because he wouldn't take pellets. But she finally caved in.
