how does this combo sound to all of you? i will hopefully get some photos so someone can help me id my pike... imagine that someone buying a fish at the lfs and them not knowing the exact species.... atleast they made sure to ask how big my tank is.
It'll work for a good bit, but the clown knife is just going out grow and possibly eat the pike. Aside from that everything looks great! Get some pictures up! We'll do our darndest to help you finger out what they are!
peanut my pike looks exactly like the Crenicichla cincta you posted pics of in the pike id thread so im 99% sure thats my fish. same coloring, black line down the side with bars coming from the top down and the very tip of his top fin (dorsal?) is red from front to back just the tip. how large will the pike get? should it be compatable with an african brown knife and a peacock eel?
all i have for now is a couple pics of my pond that there in when i bring them in for the winter ill get some good pics. there a little tricky to photo when you cant see them from the side and with all the plants in my pond.
Yeah no idea mate, trying to ID pikes from a description is sketchy at best, and I definitely can't see anything from those pictures...haha.
If it is cincta, you may have lucked out. They are one of the larger growing of the pikes, and even though somewhat more aggressive, they are an awesome pike to have! The pike will get between 16 to 20" easily, possibly larger than that given the right conditions.
Honestly, don't think the brown knife and peacock eel will be able to be perminant residents. It may work out for a while, but they may eventually get eaten. Sorry mate.
If you don't want it any more though just bring it on up to me!
i was going to put the pike, african brown, and peacock eel (out of my cichlid tank) into a 55 gal and find a couple others to help populate it but by the sounds of it the pike will be able to defend himself, so ill just put the african brown in with my cichlid's and my peacock eel. (20g high) but i have to get my cichlid's a lil bigger first or the knife will think they're feeder fish. its only an african brown but its 5" long and my cichlids are only 1 1/2-2" i bought the peacock at petsmart and the others at wal-mart, they said they were assorted african cichlids but the main one in the pic looks like a red devil to me and the dark one looks like a little jack dempsey any thoughts on the subject? should a red devil (south american) a peacock eel a peacock cichlid (african) and a jack dempsey do alright with an african brown knife? i know the peacock cichlid may just be in a bit of danger when the red devil and jack get bigger but the abk should be alright shouldnt it?
