My orange pike xinguI is finally looking better. I thought i was having issues with my water quality but all my parameters are now good, and my pikes eyes were still cloudy. So for the last 2 days i have been dosing the tank with pimafix and melafix and now he's coming around eyes really clearing up. I think it was some kind of secondary infection, though none of his tank mates were effected. I'll continue to treat for the whole seven days then see whats what.
 
Do you have hard water? I had hard water and after a water change my pikes eyes would sometimes cloud up for a little bit then it would go away. I add about 1 tablespoons per 10gal of aquarium salt to my water to help fight off infections and stuff, you should give it a try. Melafix and Pimafix are great fo shore! Don't use them too much cuz they do stress your biological filter a might bit.
 
Thanks for the tips. I need to test or get my water's hardness checked. I but this freshwater aquarium salt from my lfs and add 1 tsp/gal. i will only do the mela/pima-fix for seven days then check the results. This guy has been getting hit pretty hard but he still feeds well and is very active in the tank. They are getting a new bigger home in a few weeks so hopefully that will help too, as my RD bothers everyone in the tank whenever she gets in her head.
 
Yeah...haha....thats a good idea to move them. You could go to Walmart and get a test kit. They are pretty simple. Just dip and read the results. SeaChem or QuickDip....only about $8 or so. Got hardness, alkalinity, pH, nitrate, and nitrite...not sure about anything else. Pretty much the basic stuff. Its fairly accurate as well..;)
 
the kit i have tests pH ammonia nitrites and nitrates. Ill get the hardness test tomorrow. I am picking up a wolf fish on wed and have to get some supplies:D
 
The wolf will be in a seperate tank. I don't know anyone who has kept tankmates with a wolf successfully.
 
SO FAR TAZ HAS BEEN ROLLING EVERYBODY ABOUT THE SAME SIZE AND NOBODY HAS CLICKED OUT YET BUT THEY WON'T LET NOBODY NEW INTO THE PICTURE!!
