Pike for a 55

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Any one of the dwarf species or any Saxatilis-group pike would work. Dwarf pikes generally don't get any larger than 4", and the largest Saxatilis species can attain 10" in the males. Females are generally smaller. Pikes are most aggressive towards one another, and in an appropriate sized tank, most other fish of similar size should be tolerated, unless they are torpedo-shaped.

ya any saxitillis can live in a 55. just provide lots of caves for him. pvc works fine

lay a piece of slate in the front glass and the pike will chill there all day for your viewing pleasure. watch out though they can cause havoc if they feel like they are the boss of the tank. have something that will keep it kinda mellow. pikes are best by themselves. but dwarf ones i hear are not as agressive.

any sax or dwarf. you may even get away w/ a female johanna

Dont no the scientific name but the pet store I was at today had two spotted Pikes. I guess they don't get to big.

probably a saxatillis group. I doubt it's an acutirostris

The girl at my LPS googled it and if I remember right the link said that it would only grow to 8". The pic of it showed only 2 circle spots on the dorsal.
