Ironic to find you here as well!! Hahaha! Glad your interested in pikes! They are great fish!! :D :D :D!! Great colors, attitude, and personality!! Definately help round out a tank, or make great show fish as well!! ;) Their profile makes them very desireable as well, as not many cichlids are as laterally compressed as they are! ;) That torpedo shape just grows on you more and more!! They are VERY addicting, and many of the members here will attest to the fact that once you start, it can be very difficult to resist the temptation to get more! :D

About the species you listed...they are great pikes! Generally stay in the 10 to 12" range, rather thick as well. It should be aight in a tank that size...depending on the size of the tankmates and what not. The aggression can go both ways, so watch your other fish as well. Finding true Crenicichla lepodita is a challenge though, so if you are able to find some definately get them!! ;)

CFB has some Crenicichla anthurus right now, ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS fish! A 'pair' is $55...;). Personally, i think they are one of the most beautiful Saxatilis species...;). Also personally think pikes look BEST when kept as mated PAIRS!! ;)

I am bidding on a AT auction for 3 of em and want to make sure that they will not get hurt by my Monsters and Vice-versa.

When you get a chance look at Nate's stuff (Massive Aggression) as he is bringing in some very nice Pike straight from SA!

What will they eat besides other Fishies??

What should I prepare to give these guys??

Its generally a GREAT idea to see the pikes before you buy them. A lot of the time they are labeled as one thing, and end up being something completely different...;).

You can get Crenicichla to eat just about anything if you have the patience. I've gotten mine to eat veggies, algae wafers, mysis shrimp, sinkin pellets, floating pellets, lots of other frozen foods, earthworms, ghost shrimp. Basically, if it can fit in their mouth, they are gonna at least attempt to eat it.

Prepare to start them off with mysis shrimp, blood worms, chopped earthworms, ghost shrimp, and Hikari Sinking Carninour Pellets. That is a great starter diet...;)

Personal friend or not....gettin a confirmed ID is a very wise thing...;). He didn't seem to know that much about Crenicichla from readin his post...haha...so there is a chance they might be species that wouldn't go so hot in your tank...;).

Mysis shrimp is like GOLD!! That stuff ROCKS MAN!! :D

I never pass up an oppertunity to get some pikes! :D :D If you DO get them though, I would keep all three until you get a pair, if possible. Its much easier with more pikes to get a mated pair than trying to keep just two of them and do the same...;)

Using My Cichlid Logic~

Would a Pair not be MORE aggro than a single? Jeeze, I'd really almost be happy with 1! LOL!

And thanks for the Help Bro!
