i think they were labeled as "rainbow pike", but i can't remember for sure. they had a red edge on the dorsoal and you can see the caudal spot and the other one.

Hard to tell but i'm thninking lepidota

Rainbow pike would make you lean towards Crenicichla johanna, which they are not. They are a Saxatilis pike, considering how common they are recently, tending towards lucius. Although proteus doesn't sound to shabby either.

Did you get them? You should just get them!! :D

Would be awesome if we got some proteus around here i'd pick one up

I didn't get one. They have quite a few, though. I don't want to get another lucius, but I may get one in hopes that it's something "good". With the brightness and amount of red on the dorsal, they look different than my 2 lucius, so they may be something "better". I guess with how small they are, they could go in with my tetras and 1/2" severum, but I'm a little worried about pikes and tetras. I just spent sixty bucks on stupid tetras yesterday, lol, and wouldn't want to lose them, but since the pikes are the same size as the tetras and they're all tiny, the pikes shouldn't mess with them.

I would not bet on them not trying to eat the tetras or a 1/2 inch severum. I have had pikes kill fish trying to swallow them and never get them down. Then just leave them in tank. And even if they don't they will out grow them quickly enough to do so.
With that being said go for them, Crens are much better than tetras and Sevs anyway.:D

What Species of tetra ? The pikes look to be about 2''-3'' so i would say a half inch severum wouldn't be safe it could be for a while but not for long once the pike is use to the tank and gets hungry it will most likely try to fit its mouth around

It could work though but keep and eye on them if you try it and keep the pike nice and fat all the time

the pikes weren't even 1/4" in diameter and only 1" long. they look much bigger in the pix. they were actually already in with tetras or some other small fish, i don't recall what exactly.

the tetras are 10 cardinals, 5 glo-lites (yeah, I know...), 5 von rio (flame)s, 6 rummynose and they're all almost as large as the pikes.

IDK. if anyone wants to check them out, they're at AquaMart in the FW tank closest to the store front in the middle row

I could never find Aquamart on map quest wheres it at ?

They looked to be at least 2'' in those pics but if there that small then they should be fine some of those tetras won't last long once the pike starts to grow but at that size you've got time

it's the old Premier Fish and Reef.

3255 S. Wads

easiest way is going N on Wadsworth off of Hampden. You will turn left (W) at the second light which is Eastman. Then, you will make your first left and it's in the complex closest to Wads and the storefront faces North. It's kind of hard to find. If youre coming south from Yale, there's a right turn you can take between Eastman and Girton that takes you right there.
