Yeah, I was going to mention to you that keeping them with Barras wasn't a good idea, but I guess they beat me too it.

Yeah thats what i thought would happen we'll i thought hed be a big feeder good to hear he survived they do grow quickly but i don't know if they can keep up with a barra

channarox;2213440; said:
hopefully he'll grow at the the same rate as the barras.
theyre constantly trying to get him.
but they aint very smart.:D

Hate to say it, but this was your fault. You had plenty of warning and advice given from several of us stating that it wasn't a good idea keeping them together. You even said yourself that there had been several attempts at it getting eaten.

This ticks me off because it could have been avoided. You saw the signs for problems, yet ignored them. Now a great fish is dead. Tis a steep price to pay for learning a lesson.

i wouldnt worry if the pikes had the same growth rate as the barras.
the barras only get to a foot in a year.
and i'd probably get rid of them soon.

yea,i know.
im a bad fishkeeper.:irked:
i couldnt seperate them because my parents only allow me to have one tank in the house...
so i didnt have any choice but to leave them together...
i was going to get a divider the next day cause i was busy the same day.

Gator pike are C.Vittata while they are awesome pikes they don't get as big as venezuala i don't know about there growth rates so i couldn't say if they would work better as a grow out pike with barras

I would try a large Venezuala that one was just to much smaller then the barras so it didn't really have much of a chance

Cr. vittata is the largest of all the pikes, have been seen in the wild at roughly 24"
